Washed my hair Saturday night, and twisted for Sunday.  I was really going to flat iron then but couldn’t find any of my fine tooth combs!!!! It was so frustrating and was about to call it quits. I had to talk myself into calming down, and go to the store Monday morning, buy a fine tooth comb, so that I can do it once I got off work.  Of course, Monday night comes around and I’m pooped from massaging all day but something was telling me to push through it.  So I did it, which took FOREVER AND A DAY!! lol  I was happy that I pushed myself to complete the task and excited about the outcome.  Check below for Pictures.

April 22, 2013  Before Blow Drying, took down twists in threes and used blow dryer to stretch hair. *Hair was fully dry before applying heat to hair*

On today, April 23, 2013, I actually went to a Salon so that I could clean up my ends.  I haven’t had a professional trim in 2 1/2 years so it was long overdue to have them cut off.  I will be posting more pictures of how I will be wearing my hair for the week.  Also, I am so excited that hair show is this weekend and I get to show off  my new DO!!!

The event was GREAT!!! I enjoyed meeting everyone and was filled with joy in my heart from this event.  I want to thank everyone that took the time out to come and see us and support Curl X, we really appreciated it!!  Also, it was a great honor to be able to meet and talk with Lisa Price, Founder of Carol’s Daughter.  Very Thankful for her presence and being able to make time out of her busy schedule to speak to all of us at the event!   A special thank you to Saniyyah Griffin, General Manager Carol’s Daughter Flagship Store in Harlem.  Without you, the event couldn’t have happened.  We are so grateful for the opportunity and the open hospitality  you showed us, Thank you!

Another event that I attended within the last couple of months was Naturals Nite Out.  It was hosted by Retro de la Naturale & Co-Hosted by Atlanta Naturals.  The event was healed at the Stuart McClean Gallery in Atlanta, GA.  There was painting, music & mingling throughout the night.  Also, there were a couple of vendors selling products as well.  One was Nappy Rutz, which they “specialize in enhancing ones beauty by way of handcrafted accessories”(quote taken from their site).  I love their handmade jewelry, which I have a couple of pairs, and was so excited to see the owner, Cherie Huff!!

After the painting session, there was a panelist session of 3 men giving their opinions and answering questions on women with Natural Hair.  It was very interesting to hear some of their thoughts.

With this meet up, I think the  painting session took a lot of time away from mingling, networking, & the panelist discussion, but it was a nice touch to paint in an Art Gallery!   The Stuart McClean Gallery is beautiful and filled with Amazing art, such an amazing place to host an event!

I know it is April and almost May and I am just now posting about Nikki Walton of CurlyNikki’s meetup that occurred in Atlanta February 17, 2013.  Don’t shoot me! I finally got the pictures up to share with you all!  It was a nice event that was sponsored by Mizani and held at Do at the View in Atlanta.   Mizani professional stylists were throughout the building performing natural hair styling demonstrations, there were product sampling, special presentations and spoken word.  A lot of beautiful women came out to support and ladies, there were several men in the building as well.   All in all it was a very nice turnout and I really enjoyed myself.

Friday, April 12th, I posted on IG about the Carol’s Daughter Healthy Hair Tour.  Myleik Teele, Founder of curlBOX, hosted and had Panelists Maeling Tapp of naturalchica.com, Nikk Nelson of pressednaturalhair.com, Kela of naturallykela.com, Lexi of lexiwiththecurls.com & Ebony Clark, eclark6 on YouTube.   The event was held at Clark Atlanta University and was focused on talking to young ladies about Transitioning.   It was a nice crowd and the audience had a lot of questions for the panelists.  They talked about natural hair maintenance, transitioning, color treatments, hair growth & etc.  The main goal was to educate anyone who didn’t have a good understanding about being natural or returning to natural, which several lucky ladies, including myself were able to win Carol’s Daughter Transitioning Kit.   There were plenty more giveaways and door prizes that the ladies could win!!

I really enjoyed seeing these lovely women & gentleman educating everyone about Natural Hair!!

There were plenty of Sweet Treats that were so tempting to go straight to my taste buds but I stayed strong and managed to miss out on the goodies!

Not only that, they had several Celebrities in the building.  Laz Alonso, Porsha Stewart And Tatyana Ali were the special hosts for the night and they were joined by many more.  Also, throughout the night, you had your chance to get mini makeovers, from stylist to make up artists.  So we had everything all in one place.  At the end of the night, gift bags were given out filled with their full-sized products!!!

Akina’s hair has grown so much this past year.  March 25th marks her Big Chop 1 year Anniversary!!!
