Look at those Curls POP!!!!
So I decided to do a wash and go to see how it would turn out on the length I have now. The last time I attempted the style was last July. The way it turned out was ok, but not what I was looking for. My curls weren’t popping and I felt that the amount of time it took me to do it, I should have a head full of defined curls. My first time doing a wash and go was when I did my big chop. At that time, I didn’t know what my hair needed. So after a couple of hours, it did not turn out how I expected it to. But hey, it was my first time and there’s always room to grow!!!!!
I didn’t do my hair on freshly washed hair this time. I decided to do a co wash, so if I didn’t like it, I could just easily shampoo my hair. I co washed with Tresemme Naturals Nourishing Moisture Conditioner. I turned my water on cool and rinsed most of it out and left a little bit in. I added just a little of Karen’s Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia Leave In for a little more moisture. I then used EcoStyler Olive Oil Gel to clump my curls together. I didn’t use a styling tool at all for this process, I used my fingers to detangle as I was in the shower. Then used my fingers again to do the raking motion to clump my curls while applying the gel. I didn’t have enough time to air dry, so I used my hand drier with a diffuser to dry my hair. I think that is another reason my hair was a little big and puffy.
I can honestly say, that I do like the way my curls turned out, but just didn’t like that it was crunchy. I will try to perfect this style because now that I have more length, my shrinkage doesn’t really bother me. This will be one of my summer go to styles, especially when I am being lazy…shhhhhhhh…don’t tell anybody I said I was being lazy. LOL

I’ve been natural since Feb 2011 after transitioning since July 2011. With the exception of the few times I’ve rocket twists, I’ve done a wash and go everyday since then. Bleh. I don’t look forward to the fastly approaching day that I’ll have to actually learn how to do my hair
Prior to going natural, I wore a pony tail everyday, lol.

- some extra mumbo jumbo on my personal hair story. Long story short, I’ve been natural since my BC Feb 2011 and have worn a wash and go nearly every day since then. I do notttt look forward to actually having to learn to do my hair. Prior to going natural I wore my hair in a pony tail everyday. Wait, that’s not long story short at all… that would indeed be the story.

The wash n go turned out great! I like how you posted pics of your first attempts and now how you’ve perfected it. I’m growing my hair out and its about an inch now so I’m trying to find some styles to do. I’ll definitely try this when it gets longer.
I like it alot, Im still trying to perrrrfect mine. Im not ready to wear it out now…it turns into a big puff when it dries. The eco styler gel will lay it down but it is not soft but rather crunchy. Thanks for your tutorials it is giving me some ideas. Im tired of just wearing my hair in a bun using my olive oil gel…its kinda boring now.
